Calcium is the major mineral in the body, about 98% of its present in bone and teeth. Calcium is also essential for optimum milk production and growth rate. Calcium is one of the main components of bone and so is an important but often overlooked factor in achieving proper growth in young cattle. Growth rate is slower if calcium intake is inadequate. Where intake is severely deficient rickets, weak skeleton or even bone fractures are possible.
